This position is responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the golf
course and driving range.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains and oversees the planning and scheduling of maintenance
responsibilities for golf course and driving range - Supervises all planting, fertilizing, care and removal of turf, plants, shrubs,
trees as required on golf course - Ensures the golf course is ready for play. Determines if course should be
closed due to weather conditions - Inspects course regularly to ensure optimum playing conditions. Evaluates
and recommends improvements - Hires, trains and supervises golf maintenance employees
- Coordinates Agronomic Programs
- Maintains all grounds and course maintenance equipment including making
recommendations for capital improvement and purchases - Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation and watering systems on golf
course - Prepares and oversees department budget ensuring budget goals are met
Secondary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensures chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are properly
used, stored and disposed of in accordance with applicable local, state and
federal requirements - Reports irrigation usage to authorities
- Supervises special projects/construction as required
- Coordinates with Head Golf Professional the scheduling of golf tournaments
and other special events - Oversees the purchase of plants/fertilizers/etc. for beds/projects
- Records pesticide application information
- Performs other duties as required

Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Turfgrass Science required
- TDA Pesticide Applicators License
- TCEQ License
Special Skills Requirements:
- Working knowledge of hydraulics for irrigation scheduling
- Working knowledge of irrigation design/repair
- Knowledgeable in repair, operation, and maintenance of golf course
equipment - Knowledgeable in the timing and application of fertilizers and pesticides
- Knowledgeable in accounting principles and budgeting
- Knowledgeable in safety and training requirements
- Knowledgeable in golf course construction/renovation
- Knowledgeable in high salinity irrigation water
Minimum Years of Experience Requirements:
- 5-7 years as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
